SSC JE Syllabus 2020-21 | Best SSC-JE coaching in Delhi

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is that the administering body of the SSC JE Exam for recruiting fresh new engineering graduates for the posts of SSC Junior Engineer (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Quantity Surveying & Contracts).

SSC JE Exam Pattern

The salient features of the new SSC JE Exam Pattern are given below:

There is a negative marking of 0.25% marks for every incorrect answer in Paper I.
The SSC JE Syllabus for 2020-21 consists of two Papers –
     1.Paper I (Computer Based Examination)
     2.Paper-II (Descriptive Type)
     3.In Paper I and Paper II for General Engineering, an applicant is required to aim only that section as per the choice which was given at the time of filling up the SSC JE form .


Candidates awaiting the SSC JE Admit Card for Tier I exam are going to be updated as soon because the commission releases an equivalent . Candidates can keep a track of the admit card page (linked above) for updates.

The SSC JE Exam Pattern comprises two stages:

    1.Paper I (Computer-based Test)
    2.Paper-II (Descriptive/Written Test)


The time duration of every Paper is 120 minutes. The SSC JE Exam Pattern is given within the table below:

SSC JE Exam Pattern

Name of Examination:

SSC Junior Engineer (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Quantity Surveying & Contracts)

Number of Papers: 

  • Paper I – Computer-based Test
  •  Paper-II – Descriptive Test

SSC JE Exam Date:

  • Paper I: March 22nd, 2021 to March 25th, 2021
  • Paper-II: To be notified

Duration of Exam:

  • 2 hours each Paper

Exam Language:

  • English
  • Hindi

Maximum Marks:

  • Paper-I will be able to be of 200 marks
  • Paper-II is going to be of 300 marks

Type of Exam:

  • Online & Offline (Pen-paper)

Type of Questions:

  • All questions of Paper-I will be able to be of Objective type (MCQs)
  • Paper-II is going to be a Written Examination

Negative Marking:

  • As per the new SSC Junior Engineer Exam Pattern, there’ll be 0.25% negative marking for each incorrect answer in Paper I.
  • For instance, if the utmost marks allotted for an issue is 1, then answering it incorrectly would incur a penalty of 1/4th marks.
  • There will be no negative marking for leaving an issue blank.

SSC JE Syllabus
The SSC JE Syllabus for 2020-21 consists of two different stages – Paper I comprises of Objective-type questions and Paper II is of Descriptive type/Written Test.

SSC JE Syllabus for Paper I
This Paper is an objective/computer-based test of two 00 marks for a duration of 2 hours. Given below are the various sections of Paper I:

  1. General Intelligence & Reasoning
  2. General Awareness
  3. General Engineering:      Part-A (Civil Engineering & Structural Engineering)           Part-B (Electrical Engineering)
    Part-C (Mechanical Engineering)

1. General Intelligence & Reasoning:

This General Intelligence syllabus section mainly consists of questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. This test particularly includes questions that are designed to check the candidate’s capacity to affect arithmetical computations, abstract ideas, symbols, and their relationships, and other analytical functions. Check 3 sutras to organize for reasoning ability for SSC JE because it is a crucial and major part of the syllabus. Listed below are the topics under this section:

2. General Awareness:

Under this category, the questions mainly test the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him/her, knowledge of current affairs, everyday observations, and its various applications to society. The questions during this section are going to be such candidates don’t require a special study of any particular discipline. This section also includes questions concerning India and its neighboring countries especially concerning the subsequent topics:

  • Culture
  • History
  • Economic Scene
  • Scientific Research
  • General Polity

3. General Engineering: Candidates need to choose between anybody of those three topics given below. The breakdown analysis of every part is completed under the SSC JE Syllabus for Paper-II. This section includes three parts:

  3. Part-C (Mechanical Engineering)
